The effect of barium sulfate (BaSO4) and 2-diethylamino ethyl acrylate (DEAEA) content, on the rheological 4behavior (injectability and viscosity) of acrylic bone cements, employing an experimental design based on responsesurface methodology, was studied. The results showed that the incorporation of BaSO decreased the viscosity and 4increased the injectability of bone cement in the dough state. In contrast, DEAE appears to have a slight effect on theinjectability of the same. It was found that the formulation containing 4 % of ADEAE and 30 % of BaSO showed the 4best rheological properties for their application in percutaneous vertebroplasty. The results obtained in these testswere compared with commercial Zimmer Dough bone cement.
