El rol de la estadística en el trabajo del ingeniero
Main Article Content
The goal is to make clear how important it is for engineers to reach appropriate literacy in Statistics. This way, engineers would successfully cope with phenomena like variability and uncertainty appearing on most common Engineering problems. The framework from which we suggest to rebuild the statistical dimension in the engineering curriculum is based on thoughts by Koen (1985) The statistical dimension is developed from the need of the availability of some heuristics that may help the engineer in the making of reasonable decisions. We emphasize the convenience and need of the inclusion of a solid basic instruction in Statistics, as an essential component in the engineering curriculum. A set of subjects is proposed, flexible enough to adapt itself to the specific needs of the different academic programs in Engineering.
