Numerical study of settlements induced by tunneling in soft soil layers
Main Article Content
This paper presents the development of a numerical study performed to analyze the ground surface behavior due to the construction of tunnels in soft soils, specifically in the case of typical stratigraphy of the alluvial zone of Bogotá.A finite element platform PLAXIS 3D TUNNEL® was used to determine the relationship between the settlement and the tunneling excavation with TBM in this type of soil. The levels of impact in the settlement phenomenon were studied by five factors: the constitutive model of soil materials, the depth of excavation, the performance of the TBM, the diameter and thickness of the tunnel lining. The research concluded the following result: the most influential factors in the magnitude of the settlement phenomenon are the tunnel diameter and the depth of excavation.
