Number PI is probably the most studied numerical constant through history. However, its background which was, apparently, only mathematical in nature, has overpassed the limits of this discipline and, in this way, has raised men 's interests in different areas of knowledge. The review of its historical development is, therefore, a delightful combination of cultural, anecdotic, and scientific aspects.
