Diseño y tecnocultura alternativas constructivas: el caso del "sistema tendinoso"
Main Article Content
The "Tendinous System" is an integral view on design, technology and culture. It responds to a necessity of living in homes built with more durable materials. Sponsored by Universidad del Valle and a Professoral Corporation, its name was inspired by the classification made by the Spanish engineer Felix Cardelach, whit the same name: Tendinous Structures. All Know-how, techniques and typologies have been drawn from the traditional rural architecture. It is based upon the production of sand-cement panels mounted on a barbed-wire network attached to a wooden -"guadua" (giant bamboo) - metallic or concrete frame. Large sacks woven with natural fibers and originally used to carry on some crops, are placed on a wired network, upon which the sand-and-cement mixture is spread to a thickness of 2 inches, aproximately. This building method offers good perspectives as long as the traditional craftsmanship form of production can be maintained.
