Innovation, technologies and barriers in the tourism sector in the north of Caldas, Colombia

The objective of this article is to present the general results of the tourism sector in the northern part of the Department of Caldas and specifically an analysis related to innovation, the use of information technologies and the barriers that are being presented in this sector. Based on a qualitative research, with a descriptive and correlational type of study a multivariate analysis was used and it was possible to consolidate a response base of 68 direct entrepreneurs direct and indirect businessmen of the tourism sector in the municipalities of Neira and Salamina in the Department of Caldas. The results show that, for the companies surveyed, innovation in tourism is fundamental for their growth. and the creation of innovative experiences, as well as the use of social networks as the most effective tools for disseminating new tourism products. It is concluded that the absence of governmental support has a negative impact on the economic growth of both tour operators and companies in the sector.
