The selection process for a teacher's profile in general, and even more for those that are subscribed to higher education systems requires to fulfill an academic, strategic, and scientific criteria, among others, this makes the search become a more difficult process even when multiple profiles must be defined at the same time.
The main target of this investigation was to design a tool that allows the selection of a teacher's profile that can be considered for the next job applications at the Universidad del Valle in Yumbo site. To start with the selection process, the articulation of the strategic plans of the university and its own regional in Yumbo site was taking as a basis, as well as the labor observatories and the Ministry of Science and Technology, to obtain a qualitative and quantitative information. To analyze that information, the application of the multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) techniques such as AHP and TOPSIS were proposed, which provide a ranking of profiles that should be considered for the next job application staff to occupy teacher vacancies that the Central Administration considers appropriate for the Universidad del Valle in Yumbo site; giving flexibility in the selection process, since there is no need to consider an exact number of selected teachers at the beginning of the process. The implementation of these multi-criteria methodologies allowed to get closer to the required objectivity in front of the selection processes in any context, particularly, in teacher’s profile selection.
